Claude Code usage on Windows, right next to the clock
UsagePeek AI is a Windows tray app that shows the limits Claude Code draws from: your 5-hour session and your weekly limit, with countdowns. It warns you at 80% and 95%, relaunches your Claude Code projects when the limit resets, and estimates what your sessions would cost at API prices, all on your PC.

Claude Code and claude.ai share one set of limits
On Pro and Max plans, Claude Code counts against the same 5-hour session and weekly limits as your chats on claude.ai, per Anthropic's help center. So the number that tells you how much Claude Code you have left is the one claude.ai reports for your account, and that is the number UsagePeek keeps in your tray. You don't need a terminal open to see it.
What you see while you code
- Tray icon. Your session usage on a color-coded ring beside the clock. Hover for the reset countdown.
- Floating widget. An always-on-top mini view you can park next to your terminal or editor. Ctrl+Shift+U shows or hides it, and you choose which limit leads: session, weekly or a per-model cap.
- Alerts at 80% and 95%. One desktop alert per threshold for the session, the weekly limit and per-model caps, so a limit doesn't land in the middle of a long task.
- Popup. Session, weekly and per-model usage with exact reset times, plus your Claude Code spend for today and the last 7 days.
Auto-resume: your projects come back when the limit does
Hit the limit halfway through a task? Queue the project and walk away. When your limit resets, UsagePeek relaunches every queued project, in order, a couple of seconds apart.
- Add a project. The picker lists the Claude Code projects already on your PC, newest first, so there is no folder to hunt for.
- Pick the session. The latest one, or a specific session, labeled with its first and last message so you can tell them apart.
- Choose where it comes back. A new Windows Terminal window running
claude --resume, or the Claude Desktop app, which opens the very same session. - Set the prompt. It resumes with “Continue from where you left off” unless you write your own, and it fires once or on every reset, your choice.
Claude Code stays interactive after it runs the prompt, so you can keep steering when you get back. Auto-resume needs Claude Code on the same PC: the CLI for the terminal option, or the Claude Desktop app.
What your Claude Code sessions cost, estimated on your PC
Claude Code keeps a log of every session under %USERPROFILE%\.claude\projects. UsagePeek reads the token counts in those logs, prices them with Anthropic's published API prices and adds them up per day and per model family. The estimate makes zero network requests: nothing is uploaded.
- In the popup: today and the last 7 days.
- In the statistics window: stacked daily bars by model family over 1 day, 1 week, 14 days or 1 month, a legend that doubles as a filter, a per-model table, and a toggle between cost in USD and tokens.
On a Pro or Max plan you don't pay per token, so read it as “what this work would cost on the API”: a quick way to compare days and to see which models eat your limit.
Questions
Does UsagePeek need Claude Code installed?
Not for your limits: you sign in to claude.ai once in the app's own window, and the tray icon, widget and alerts work from that. Auto-resume needs Claude Code on the same PC (the CLI for the terminal option, or the Claude Desktop app), and the spend estimate needs the session logs Claude Code writes.
Does it read my code or my prompts?
It reads Claude Code's session logs on your PC for two things: the token counts behind the spend estimate, and the first and last message of each session so the auto-resume picker can label them. It never opens your project files, and nothing from those logs leaves your PC.
Which Claude plans does it work with?
It shows exactly the limits claude.ai reports for your account. On Pro, Max and Team plans that means the 5-hour session and the weekly limit, plus a per-model weekly cap on plans that have one. The 7-day free trial lets you check with your own account before you pay.
Is the spend estimate what I pay?
No. On a Pro or Max plan you pay a flat price, not per token. The estimate is what the same tokens would cost at Anthropic's published API prices: useful to compare days and models and to see which ones eat your limit, not a bill.
